Bio

Living in Chennai with wife and two kids.

Grew up in Neyveli, a small industrial township 200 kms south of Chennai, India. Ours is a fairly large family with three brothers and a sister. I am the eldest. Both parents are school teachers. Dad has retired, finishing his career as a school headmaster. He is now busy visiting his grandkids, and every little temple of any significance in the state. Mom is still working.

I was ok at school in academics. Didn't do much in sports except for representing our school in the cricket team. I am jealous of a few of my friends who did well in football and other sports. Lead my school team in quiz and won every trophy in town. We stood 3rd in the state-level competition. Used to hang out with my friends Valan and Prakash so often that we were split and placed in three different classes by the teachers. Poor guys, didn't know that it did little to part us.

Studied medicine from Madras Medical College, the oldest medical college in India. Thought that it was one of the most archaic college in operation, but have a great opinion now in hindsight knowing the state of medical education in India. Was so erratic to college that my friends used to comment that I studied medicine by post! Spent a lot of time tweaking my audio amplifier, my prized possession and the reason for a lot of crowd in my room. Had a great time in college. It was great fun hanging out with Bala (Balamurali) and Dinky (Dhinakar). Rams (Ramkumar) and Vasu (Vasudevan) are friends that a few get in their life.

Worked in a few corporate hospitals that gave me a band of consultant friends who would play a great role in my life, changing my career and forming the Company where I work right now. Dr. Sreekumar was instrumental in moving my career ahead. It was great fun working under him in the hospital. He would have made a great teacher if he had chosen so. He is working in the UK and we meet most of the time he visits India.

Met Jayanthi at my first job as a doctor. She was the hospital chairman's secretary and it was absolute madness at first sight. Got married within the next year.

Learnt computer programming from school and later on my own. When I moved to medical transcription training and management I got the time to sharpen my programming skills and developed a slew of utilities for my Company's operations. Got stung by the charms of the PC architecture and spent numerous hours studying how the PC worked. Developed JOSH, an experimental, educational, real-mode operating system for the PC as a fun project. Published the OS as a tutorial on the web and was amazed by the reception it had. It is now being distributed by UNITAR for educational purposes.

Currently part of ANSA and developing an easy-to-use document management system, and hoping it would be the next killer-app for the healthcare industry!
